Official UK Stockist of Tweedmill Textiles Pure Wool Blankets

We partner with Tweedmill Textiles, one of the last woollen mills operating in the UK. Nestled at the edge of the Clwydian mountain range in Wales, our historic mill has been producing textiles for over 50 years.

Our blankets are made in the way they have always been; on the traditional weaving looms which have been running for generations.

Our collection of blankets and throws reflect the colours and textures of the Welsh landscape and the rich heritage of British textile tradition.

Benefits of Choosing an All-Natural Pure Wool Blanket

Unlike synthetic fabrics, wool is a breathable fibre which reacts to changes in body temperature. The crimped structure of the fibre traps pockets of air, keeping you warm in cold weather. Wool also allows moisture to evaporate, helping you to maintain a comfortable temperature in all seasons.

Wool is naturally odour resistant and self cleaning. Airing outside on the line is often the easiest way to freshen up your wool blanket, making it easy to care for and gentle on our environment.

Why Wool Is an Eco-Friendly Choice for Your Home

Wool is considered an environmentally and socially responsible fibre, as it is organically occurring, 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable.

As long as sheep have access to grass for grazing, they will continue to produce fleece each year, making wool a fully renewable and completely natural material.

Wool is part of the natural carbon cycle. Even if it does reach landfill, wool breaks down in just 3-4 months and acts like a fertiliser by slowly releasing valuable nutrients and carbon back into the soil.

Understanding Pure New Wool vs. Recycled Wool Blankets

Our pure new wool throws are so-called because the wool is from the first shearing of the sheep. It is carefully graded to ensure no recycled or other wool fibres have been added. Pure new wool is soft to the touch and cosy, making it ideal for a bed or sofa.

Our recycled throws are made from excess yarn left over from the production of other blankets. Versatile throughout the seasons, they add colour and texture to any room and are ideally suited to outdoor adventures such as camping or picnics.

How to Care for Your Pure Wool Blanket

Wool is naturally self-cleaning and airing outside on the line is often the easiest way to freshen up your wool blanket.

To wash: Hand wash in cold water, or if absolutely necessary, machine wash on a cold, specialist wool cycle. Do not spin. Use a mild detergent recommended for wool. Wash separately to prevent snagging or colour run. Reshape whilst damp. Do not wring. Line dry or dry flat, ensuring that the weight of the blanket is evenly distributed. Do not tumble dry.

Remove any loose fibres with a lint roller. Use a pilling comb to remove any bobbles.

Pure Wool Blankets and Throws Size Guide – Choose the Perfect Fit

The majority of our blankets measure 150 x 183 cm. This generous size is ideal for 2 people sitting together on a sofa or as an additional layer on the bed.

The longest length (183 cm) includes the fringe, which measures approximately 10 cm on each side.

Our recycled wool throws measure 120 x 150cm. They work well as a runner at the end of a bed or as an extra cosy layer on a sofa or favourite chair.

We also recommend our recycled throws as a picnic blanket in the warmer months, as they are lightweight and easy to fold up.

Where Our Museling-Free Wool Comes From

The wool for our blankets and throws is sourced from New Zealand, because the sheep there are specifically bred for their soft fleece. They have very high animal welfare standards, meaning that the sheep room freely and the wool is museling free.
